Leanne specialises in all aspects of the administration of Estates which can include the calculation of complex Estate Duty and Capital Gains’ Tax calculations.
Her knowledge of Estates provides her with insight into the various issues that need to be dealt with when drafting Wills to avoid any problems which can occur if this important document is not prepared correctly and is invalid after date of death.
Her previous experience with the Master’s Office gives her a special perspective as to how the Master’s Office works and what their requirements are.
Leanne Barlow is a retired advocate who works as a Consultant for the firm and who specialises in Estates’ work.
After graduating from UCT, she completed her Articles at Bowman Gilfillan and Blacklock (as it was named at that time) in Johannesburg before she relocated to Cape Town in 1984. She worked for the Master’s Office, Cape Town as an Assistant Master for a number of years gaining experience in the administration of Estates, Curatorships and Insolvency matters.
She left practice for a number of years while her daughter was at school. She was approached by Fairbridges in January 2008 to run their Estates’ Department and joined them as a Consultant where she now runs the Estates’ Department of the firm. She attends to a variety of estates which include administering both smaller to large, complex estates, both intestate and testate.
She also drafts Wills and provides Estate Planning advice.
