Christo van Niekerk




Christo has a true passion for liquor law and has gained incredible experience over the past eight years in this specialist field.   He assists clients across South Africa with all liquor law related matters and strives to continue to stand out in this field of the law. Christo’s experience includes drafting and executing of all types of liquor licence applications (including but not limited to new licence applications, renewal of liquor licences and licence transfer applications), appearances before the different Liquor Boards, inspections in loco and all the associated litigation and criminal matters in all of the provinces in South Africa. Christo also has a passion for commercial and general litigation and debt recovery.



Career Overview

  • Christo completed his B.Com law degree whilst working as a part time legal assistant, during which period he developed his passion for liquor law and general litigation. He then later completed his LLB degree part-time whilst completing his articles at Couzyn Hertzog & Horak Attorneys in Pretoria.
  • After completing his articles Christo joined Marius Blom Incorporated, a boutique law firm specialising in the areas of liquor law and civil litigation.
  • In 2018 Christo joined Fairbridges Wertheim Becker in Johannesburg and assists various large corporate companies and franchises in all their liquor licence related matters as well as as all the associated general litigation and criminal matters.
