Our Competition Law department specialises in all aspects of competition law and regulation, and has experience across a broad range of business areas, sectors and industries. We advise and represent clients on prohibited practices, merger control, cartel investigations, corporate leniency applications and competition compliance as well as providing training programmes.
Our practitioners have been involved in many high-profile matters before the Competition Authorities of South Africa and have advised on competition law in various other African countries.
Various international research organisations have recognised the expertise of our practitioners. In 2020, the head of department, Lucinda Verster, was recognised by Who’s Who Legal as a Competition Future Leader in the Partners category. Lucinda was also part of the team that won the Global Competition Review Award in 2017 in the category ‘Litigation of the Year – Non-cartel Prosecution: Creative, strategic and innovative litigation on behalf of a plaintiff in a non-cartel private action’ in Nationwide Airlines claim against South African Airways.
